Points Of Interest (GNIS)
TopoDepot obtains its POI data from the USGS Geographic Names Information System
(GNIS)
The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) data consists of a large number of
feature names corresponding to many of the point features on the 7.5 minute (1:24000)
USGS quad maps, for example, schools, churches, towns, peaks, rivers, lakes, etc.
Accuracy: Map accuracy for this data is not specified, but it appears to be reasonably
good.
Coverage: 100% of the US
Dates: Varies.
